It is not a huge surprise that one of the titles to be upgraded for the arrival of the Xbox Series X/S consoles is the “Halo: The Master Chief Collection.” However, it is still a bit of good news to see it confirmed to run at 120fps without asking players to pay again.

‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection’ free upgrade: What to expect

Since “Halo: The Master Chief Collection” was developed by 343 Industries and published by Xbox Game Studios, its full optimization for Microsoft next-generation consoles were expected. Xbox also confirmed in a recent tweet that the game will run at 120fps in both campaign and multiplayer game modes. Developers also promised there will be improvements in the split screen features as well as up to 4K resolution on the Xbox Series X.

As mentioned, the full upgrade of “Halo: The Master Chief Collection” will not cost anything for those who already have the game and those with Xbox Game Pass subscriptions starting Nov. 17. It should be noted, though, that the Xbox Series S is an all-digital system so players who have the physical copy of the collection may have to either purchase its digital counterpart if they do not have an Xbox Game Pass account yet.

The Xbox Series X/S consoles will arrive in stores on Nov. 10. Both consoles are promised to be able to run games at up to 120fps but the Xbox Series X will support both physical and digital games, has “True 4K” resolution, and 1TB SSD storage for $499. The Xbox Series S will also have next-gen specs and features for only $299 but will only support digital games, 1440p gaming resolution, and has 512GB SSD storage.

‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection’ will be a good distraction from the absence of ‘Halo Infinite’

The “Halo: The Master Chief Collection” was originally developed for the Xbox One system and was later released for Windows PC gaming. It is composed of a total of six remastered titles including the Anniversary editions of “Halo: Combat Evolved” and “Halo 2” as well as “Halo 3,” “Halo 3: ODST,” “Halo: Reach,” and “Halo 4.”

With this much content, the free upgrade of “Halo: The Master Chief Collection” should be enough to keep fans of the franchise busy as they wait for the all-new addition to the franchise that was supposedly launching with the new consoles. It can be recalled that “Halo Infinite” was expected to be a launch title for the Xbox Series X/S until the game’s release date was delayed to 2021.
